Imagine Me & You :.

September 7, 2007

A delightful love story of a young newlywed who falls in love with someone she met at her wedding. Except that it’s not another man, but a woman.

Piper Perabo (Coyote Ugly) and Lena Headey (300) star in the British romantic dramedy. Perabo stars as Rachel, a young woman who meets Luce (Headey) on her wedding day, which is the start of their jolting long drawn out romance. It’s a gorgeous story, with warm tones and heartbreak, never over dramatic. Perabo does a wonderful job as Rachel, playing the confused bride without overbearing dread, and her accent is deliciously spot on.

Anthony Head of Buffy fame is brilliant as Rachel’s stuffy overbearing father, and Boo Jackson is delightful as Rachel’s inquisitive sister, H. The other most notable fantastic performance is Matthew Goode as Rachel’s husband, Heck. It could have all gone wrong with the wrong amount of emotion played, but he got it just right.

The soundtrack is lush and gorgeous. I’m not usually a fan of all this composition background music.. but the music was the fourth character in the movie. I think this is my movie soundtrack of the year, with classics such as ‘D-I-S-C-O’ and ‘So Happy Together’, and the instrumental Rachel’s overture.

I give it a 4 out of 5.. Definitely a fine addition to my DVD shelf.
